Andrew Disbury’s career combines an academic background in international business with educational leadership and management in China, Scotland and England and extensive working experience in the Indian and US education markets.
Andrew has held the positions of Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement, International Director, Admissions Director, and Principal Lecturer at four British universities, and was the British Council’s Education Director in China in the early noughties. His specialties include developing, implementing and reviewing strategy in an educational context; multi-office team development and management; personal effectiveness for business success in the cross-cultural context; and diversity and inclusion both in staff management and customer services.
As well as participating in several national committees in UK, Andrew is an active member of the European Association for International Education, serving currently as chair of one of its formal committees. As a young person, Andrew was a rarity: a British male student fascinated by foreign languages. At university, he benefited from student exchange schemes that allowed him, as part of a four-year bachelor’s degree, to study in France for one term and China for one year, which means he knows from personal experience how study abroad changes lives.
